Summer camp in Lyna
Łyna - a small village about 13km from Nidzica (Mazurian lakes). In 1991 we found an abandoned propriety near forest. As we needed a new place for a camp and we were sick of looking already - we decided to stay there..
To our delight year after year Lyna has gained on charm and beauty. We discovered a river-head and a monumental mill1 km from our base, everything surrounded by a wild nature park. Than we got to several lakes - one of the nearest and the most beautiful is Orlowskie Lake. It's crystal clear and reachable only by foot, bike or horse. This difficulty preserves the lake from the civilization and its "gifts". We visit it often to breeze up a bit or to have a swim with our horses.
Lyna lies on the edge of a huge forest, which ranges far to the north. During each camp the participants take part in rides through those areas and profit from different nature gifts like: mushrooms, berries, strawberries or raspberries. They do never come back with empty hands. One of the greatest attractions is a whole-day horse-rally - a never-to-be forgotten experience!
During the last 10 years the camp place itself has also developed a one of the kind character. A small rural path divides the base into 2 parts. On the first one there is a habitable building, a stable, a barn and a small camping place. On the other side - a kitchen, a bathroom and the cultural center of the camp - the fire place.
The camp-fires take place every night. It's a chance for participants to present their vocal and instrumental talents and to taste roasted specials - chicken, sheep or pig. There is no need of cutlery during such a feast. During those meetings the participants tell the stories of the day, laugh at falls and sing the traditional riders' songs and the newest hits. At midnight men stand up, keep their left foot high and sing Samosierra - a hymn of lancers.
But - the most important thing is horse-riding of course. The rides take place at the manege or in the forest. At the manege the riders train their balance, technique, flexibility and some jumping. Everyone rides on his own to develop his skills. In the forest the riders create an organized group and wander through the fields and woods. In the wildness they meet boars, deers and hares, what makes the ride even more charming. Even the beginners after 7 days have the possibility to check their skills in the forest.
After the whole day there is a supper under maples in the gleams of sunset
